Tula Skin Care

I have seen so many bloggers that I follow post about using Tula and how it is the best skincare line they have used! As someone who often struggles with blackheads and pimples, I had to see if this stuff really worked….

I originally had a post on my blog about Clinique and how much I loved using their products. However, after using this trial kit and seeing the difference, I had to take it down. I’m not going to lie, Clinique was good to me for many years, but Tula has made a change that no other product has.

I had scrolled through my feed several times and discovered Tula posted on Instagram. I checked their website often, however didn’t want to fork out the money to buy the products (they’re not very “pocket friendly” for a college student). One day an Instagram ad popped up for a Tula Trial Kit for only $19, so I immediately bought it. I had scrolled through the Tula website many, many times, however never managed to stumble upon this amazing kit.

tula trial

The kit comes with a purifying face cleanser, revitalizing eye cream, hydrating day and night cream, and an exfoliating treatment mask. The kit says to use all of the products twice a day, except for the mask. The mask should be used twice a week. Because of my experience with products in the past, I only used the products once a day to start off. Sometimes my face gets dry when washing it too much and/or switching products, so I didn’t want to irritate it.

You should start off by washing your face with the Purifying Face Cleanser. I use warm water to open the pores on my face and get the best “clean” possible. I just use a normal wash rag as well. I used to use cotton rounds, but I got tired of buying them and they’re messier (plus it’s better for the environment). After I wash my face, I let it air dry and then apply the Hydrating Day and Night Cream. Once that dries, I gently pat a pea-sized ball of the Revitalizing Eye Cream under my eyes and rub it on the top lid. I’ll be honest, it burned the first time I used it, however I never noticed any skin irritation that occurred. I have scheduled myself to use the Exfoliating Treatment Mask on Wednesdays and Sundays, or whatever days I end up washing my hair. I just apply it to my whole face and let set for 10 minutes before I get in the shower. I leave it on my face until I have finished shampooing my hair and have conditioner soaking in it. I’m not really sure if it makes a difference how long you leave it on, but I have always washed my face while I am letting my conditioner soak, so I didn’t change my routine for these products. The bottle recommends only leaving it on for five to ten minutes.  *All the products linked to in this paragraph are the “full-sized” version*

The trial kit that I have been using has lasted me for over a month. However, I probably skip washing my face once or twice a week, and I usually only do it once a day. The full-sized bottle of the face cleanser will last a long time. Many bloggers I follow mentioned they only need to buy it twice a year, which is probably what I will do. Tula has a subscription option where you can have the products automatically sent to your house every one, two, or three months and you will save 10% on the overall cost ! My life is so all over the place, and since I’m not sure how much I am going to use just yet, I opted out this time around.

calcium deposit

So as you can see in the above pictures (ignore my hideous eyebrows), I had a calcium deposit under my left eye. I never really took a picture of it, so I had to cipher through all of my photos to find some pics that kind of showed it. They’re not the best photos, but it will do. I also wanted to include a photo of all my dark spots, so you can see how much they’ve improved!  Here is a picture of my face after using Tula for a month.

I had just washed my face before these photos, which explains why it is a little red. But you can see a noticeable difference in my skin complexion and the calcium deposit is now gone (my eyebrows aren’t hideous anymore either, haha). I typically have many noticeable dark spots on the right side of my mouth, as that is a problem area for pimples. You can see by these pictures that my dark spots are hardly noticeable anymore. I also get “hormonal” acne and this past month, I only had a total of three pimples that arose. They didn’t stick around as long as usual either, which is phenomenal. I also wanted to mention the darkness under my eyes is due to make-up. I didn’t use my make-up remover on my eyes before I washed my face, so it didn’t come all the way off !

It’s quite ironic because I subconsciously thought to myself when I first applied the eye cream, “maybe these probiotics will make this thing go away”. I really wish I had taken an up close picture before it disappeared. I honestly didn’t even realize it disappeared until I was doing my makeup one day and saw that it was gone ! I would recommend doing before and after pictures for anyone who tries these products so you can see for yourself the impact Tula has on your skin !

The awesome probiotic technology that Tula uses helps to balance your skin! You can learn more about the ingredients used in their products HERE. All the products are free from phthalates, paragons, petrolatum, propylene glycol and mineral oil. They’re also cruelty free ♥

I decided to place an order for the full-size Purifying Face Cleanser and Hydrating Day and Night Cream after using the Trial Kit. I figured that I would run out of those first, however I still have some from the Trial Kit left. I am running out of the Exfoliating Treatment Mask and plan to place an order this week to get more !

This combination of products might not be for everyone! There are many different products to try based on what your skin needs, however this is the only trial kit that is under $50. The Tula website also has a skin quiz to provide you with product recommendations if you need additional help! First time customers can use this link to get 20% off a purchase of $30 or more ! There is also free shipping with a $50 purchase! I do feel like these products can be a little pricey, especially if you’re buying them all at once. As an alternate, I chose to purchase the four products from the trial kit in 2 different purchases so I didn’t have to spend so much in one transaction. They also sent me free samples with my package! It included the Dual-Phase Skin Reviving Treatment Pad and a travel size Probiotic Hand and Nail Therapy. I haven’t tried them yet, but let me know if you would like a review when I do!

I apologize that it took so long to get this post up!!! It’s getting to that point in the semester where everything is going haywire and a million things are due (especially long, time-consuming papers). As always, feel free to comment with any questions about Tula or if you have any ideas for future blog posts! Thank you all for reading.

P.S. Photos might be deceiving (when it comes to the side of the face I am referring to) because iPhone cameras switch your face around depending on if you use the front or the back camera (and I have used both). Sorry if there is any confusion 🙂

Welcome to Pocket Friendly Finds !!!

Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog, Pocket Friendly Finds. If you’re wondering what drove me to create this page, I will gladly tell you. I have always enjoyed reading other peoples blogs and had a desire to create my own. I have had a Tumblr for about 8 years now, but it is not the kind of platform that I need for where I want to take my blog.

More recently I’ve started following some big-time bloggers on Instagram and have noticed a trend. As much as it sucks to say, I don’t know anyone who could buy boots from Nordstrom that are on sale for $300. I followed a lot of these bloggers around the time of the NSale (Nordstrom Anniversary Sale) and was amazed at all the pricey things they were posting that they purchased “on sale”.

As a college student who fully supports myself, I cannot afford a lot of the things I see on these bloggers posts. This led me to create my blog, where everything I post is more reasonably priced and still trendy (for all of us who are ballin on a budget haha). I love to share everything from fashion to lifestyle to beauty and more. So stay tuned for more posts and my journey with my blog. Feel free to interact with me/ask questions. I look forward to interacting with you all 🙂

RaeLynn’s Style Send October

Hey everyone! It’s that time of the month again…. time for my Style Send post!!! I received my October RaeLynn’s Style Send package and wanted to share it all with you !!!! I know many of you had questions about it when I first signed up so I thought I’d share another post with my second Style Send goodies 🙂 Still absolutely loving this service and if I don’t have you convinced to sign up by the end of this post, then I guess you’ll just never know the pleasure of having your own stylist. Unless you’re Kim K or something (rolls eyes).

Anyways, I wanted to start of by apologizing for my inconsistency in posting as I work full-time (most weeks) and attend nursing school full-time. It is hard to find the time to post when I am often not home and studying when I am. I have so many posts coming your way related to product reviews, but just have to take the time to write them. I will try to consistently post at least once a week (schedule permitting).

But back to Style Send… If you didn’t read my first post, I explained how Style Send works and some of the great benefits of it. You can check it out here if you have any questions or want to sign up.

Just like last month, Halee (my stylist) emailed me asking if I had anything specific I was wanting or any big events I am going to, etc. She did an amazing job picking out things that worked well for me and this upcoming month. Did I mention I didn’t even have to leave my house to get new clothes for fall ?! So amazing since I hardly have time to go anywhere; let alone shop.

Outfit 1: Cinnamon Spice

style send2

This Important Things Sweater Tank is really just to die for. The color of the one I got is called red bean, however it comes in charcoal too! This is very versatile and can be worn all year round. I absolutely love clothes that I can keep in my closet throughout the seasons. It’s such a task trying to switch clothes in and out with my busy schedule. I actually tried this on the last time I was at RaeLynn’s, but I felt that it didn’t look right on me. Paired with the jacket Halee sent me, it was a no brainer that I had to keep it. She also told me to pair it with my jean jacket from last month, and the pair look amazing. The link for this tank will display both colors so you can decide which one you like best; or you can click on link for the individual colors if you already know which one you want ! Size: M

style send2.3

Of course my tank was paired with a bralette. We don’t need a peep-show over here, haha. This Under Matters Bralette is the same one I got last month (size L), just a different color. As I explained in my last post, I wear a 34DD and it is not easy to find comfortable and supportive bralettes. This one definitely has my approval and I could wear it all the time. It also gives me a little cleavage and makes my boobs look really nice for a bralette (just being honest).  I probably have enough bras and bralettes to wear a new one every day for at least 2 months. I know I have over 30 bras, but have never counted all my bralettes. I’m actually trying to get rid of some on my Poshmark. Its not a problem, I swear…

Ok, maybe just a little…

This Cinnamon Apples Jacket completes outfit one. This is the jacket you have to have. I’m really not lying. IT IS SUEDE. Literally the softest thing in my closet presently. The pictures do not even do it justice. Plus, take a look at the inside detail !!!style send2.455

Soooo beautiful. This jacket is just like all the expensive moto jackets your favorite bloggers are posting about, except it is only $40 ($34 with the Style Send 15% discount). I did go to RaeLynn’s on Sunday to try on a size M because the sleeves are long on this size L, however the L fit me better in the shoulders. I just rolled the sleeves up a bit and all problems were solved. Plus this amazing interior gets shown off by doing that. Size: L

Outfit 2: Fall Matters

style send2.5

WHO DOESN’T LOVE SHIRT DRESSES? AND POCKETS ?!?!?! This OMG We’re Back Again Shirt Dress is so comfortable. Again, versatility; it can be worn all year long ! Right now, I’m probably just going to wear it as it, but as winter comes around I can pair it with some stockings or leggings. The best thing about this dress is that it covers by butt ! It’s always trying to come out of my shorts or peep out of my dresses, but not with this !!!! It is long enough that i don’t have to worry about that and it is loose enough that I don’t have to constantly pull it down. But really, the pockets are the best part. I LOVE pockets!!!. This color is Marsala, however if you want to check out other colors you can do so hereSize M.

style send2.2

It’s not quite time for this, but I will definitely need this Cold Weather Beanie before long. I’ve seen these beanies at RaeLynn’s many times, but I usually wear my hair up so I get those little knitted head wraps that cover my ears. I am trying to not be as “bummy” as usual and make myself look more presentable, so this will be good for the days when I have my hair down! Plus, this one matches basically anything. If you want to check out the other color options, you can do so here. Size: OS

These shoes complete outfit two, however they can go with any of the outfits ! Halee told me that some of the girls from RaeLynn’s wore these for hours while walking around LA and they were comfortable all day. I haven’t worn them yet, so I cannot attest. I plan to soon; weather permitting. I absolutely love the dual buckle and the color just goes with everything! Unfortunately these are sold out as of today, but here is the link in case they restock! Size: 6.5

Outfit 3: Vegas, Vegas, Vegas

style send2.1

I am going to Vegas in about a week and so I wanted something nice and new to wear while I’m there! This Be-All Trend-All dress is definitely going to help me fit in the Vegas environment. It is a little snug on the booty, but I can still wear it without worrying about my butt hanging out (or worse, ripping it). I haven’t taken my measurements since I started this whole vegan thing (school project), but some people have said I look like I’ve lost weight. My “before” measurement on my hips/butt was 45 inches, so as long as you’re under that then you should be able to fit into any of the sizes. It is super flattering and comfy so I cannot wait to wear it 🙂 Size: L

Well, this concludes my second style send post. I appreciate you sticking through to the end because I know that it is long. I didn’t include Halee’s letter this time or the invoice. If you’re curious, all seven items totaled to $170.08 (after tax and with the Style Send discount). Feel free to comment with any questions about the service or products or if you want to continue seeing these posts! If you’re interested in signing up, you can check out my first Style Send post linked at the top^ to get your first package for free 🙂 Thanks again & keep checking back for a new skincare post coming soon!

RaeLynn’s Style Send September

Style Send

Hi guys ! I have had so many questions over on my Instagram about the RaeLynn’s Style Send package I received. For those of you that don’t know RaeLynn’s Boutique is local here in Indianapolis and one of my favorite places to shop ! They recently started a program called RaeLynn’s Style Send where they provide you with your own personal stylist and ship hand picked items to your house based on the information provided on your application.

So, how does it work??? First, you fill out your application and decide how often you want a Style Send package sent to your house. You can do it quarterly, biannually, or monthly. I chose the monthly package. It is $7.95 for your first package, and then $10.95 for any following packages. These charges are mainly just to pay for shipping. Once you have filled out your application, a stylist will contact you to ask you questions based on your application responses to make sure they can find what is best for you and your lifestyle! They also want to work with you and your budget, which is awesome! Then they will hand pick items for you and send about 5-6 things!

Once you receive your package, you keep what you want and send back what you don’t (they even provide a return shipping label so it is hassle free). I just reused the bag they sent me and placed my shipping label over the old one. You can keep all of it or none of it, whatever you want ! Also, you have to send the items back within 5 days of receiving the package if you do not want to be charged for them. RaeLynn’s will charge you for the items you keep, however if you keep three or more items, you will receive 15% off the total. They send an invoice like the one below with the  package that shows you a breakdown of the prices before and after the discount! IMG_5059

That’s about as simple as it gets. I also received a very detailed and personalized letter from my stylist, which is so meaningful to me. They also keep track of your previous purchases, so she gave me suggestions on how I can style my new items with ones I’ve already bought! You can read the letter below:fullsizeoutput_11f9

Alright, so heres the fun part! I figured I would link all the items that my stylist sent to me and kind of review them for you all! Some of these images are from RaeLynn’s website because I am not a professional photographer and want you all to get a good idea of the items ! I do not own the rights to any of these photos and they are property of RaeLynn’s Boutique, however I have received permission to use them. I will attach a hyperlink for all items that are in-stock on their website and have the link to the application at the end ! rss2

This is the Basically Perfect Seafoam Tank. It is a very comfortable, loose-fitting, racerback tank! I wore it out with shorts the day I got it and two people thought my underwear was hanging out (whoops). So after the second person made a comment, I decided to tuck it in the front, so everyone was aware it was a shirt, not a dress… and that my shorts weren’t underwear… haha. I also wore it to work last night with my favorite leggings from RaeLynn’s. Unfortunately, the leggings are sold out online,  otherwise I would link them. However if you live in Indy, you HAVE to go to RaeLynn’s and get a pair. They are the softest things ever and pass the bend test !!! I believe they are only $12, also. But back to the shirt, I chose to keep this because it will look good with just about anything and you can style it many different ways. You can wear it with shorts, leggings, jeans, etc. You can also use it as a bathing suit cover up in the summer. Very versatile. (Size M).

So my stylist paired the seafoam tank with this Catch LA Denim Jacket, which I also wore out the day I got it and the two do, indeed, work well together. I have always wanted a jean jacket and almost bought this one last time I was at RaeLynn’s! I chose against it because it was still warm out and I didn’t NEED it at the time. This jacket is very comfortable and I love the distressed look. This is perfect for those of us who are transitioning into colder weather. (Size L)

The last piece of this outfit are these Staple Shoes. They are on sale for $12 right now and you can find them here ! I wore these shoes around for a day, and agree with Halee (my stylist) that they are super comfortable. The ties in the back are such a cute detail. My pinky toe did start to get irritated toward the end of the day, but I think they just need to be broken in a little bit. I always get cute wedged sandals from RaeLynn’s and they never disappoint. I also love that these are neutral and go with just about anything ! Oh… and meet my cat, Loveland. She’s nozy, but too cute for me to crop her out of the picture. (Size 6.5)

So this Brick Street Sweater is super soft and comfortable. It is thin and somewhat see-through, so she paired it with a bralette. The picture here makes it look more of a reddish color, but it was more of an orangish red, like a brick haha. This was the only item I chose to send back. I really did like it, but I wasn’t completely in love with it so I didn’t NEED it. The sleeves were long, which I like because it makes it feel more cozy. I would definitely recommend getting it still. It looked super cute when I tried it on! (Size M)rss5

This is the Under Matters Bralette that was paired with the sweater. The color I was sent was called midnight, but the one pictured here is cocoa. Midnight is sold out and cocoa is the only one left of the style I was sent. There are other bralettes available on the site and you can view them here. I haven’t tried out the other ones, but I absolutely love this one. I have a big chest (34DD) and this bralette fully supports me and is super comfortable. I also feel like it gives a little extra cleavage with the way it is designed. Since I work at Victoria’s Secret, I LOVE wearing bralettes with clothes that kind of show them off. This one is perfect to wear with an off-the-shoulder sweater or just when you don’t feel like wearing a real bra (lets be honest, many people would rather not). (Size L).rss1

Last, but not least we have this Free People Dupe Sweater. I originally was going to send this back and keep the other sweater because I felt that this one looked too baggy on me. When I went to package everything up, I tried them both on again and this one actually looked really cute with the shorts I was wearing and it is super thick. I hate being cold, so I like things that are going to keep me warm! This sweater is also super soft, so I had to keep it. I feel that it is more of a bluish gray in real life as opposed to the photo, so it can go with just about anything as well ! It also has lantern sleeves which, according to my stylist, is “in” right now! (Size M)

Well, that is it for this post about RaeLynn’s Style Send! If have any questions just comment and I will do my best to help you out. If I have you convinced that RaeLynn’s Style Send is something you need in your life, you can go to the application here. RaeLynn’s was awesome enough to give me a discount code for you all so that your first style send package is FREE! You will only have to pay for the items you keep ! Just enter the code FREEFIRST when you go to check out and before you enter your card number ! You will still have to enter a card number, despite the first package being free, as that is what they will use as your payment for the items you choose to keep ! Comment with any questions and let me know if you want to see what my next package contains ! Thank you all for reading 🙂
